Cane River Revival .::. Friday, 5/30/08

Friday night was kind of bittersweet because the meetings were supposed to be ending.? GREAT NEWS!!! The meetings have been extended into a 4th week.? The meetings are now scheduled to go through Monday (6/2) & Tuesday? (6/3) of this week.? Bro. Ralph is supposed to continue the prophecy study we began last week, so come out if you can.?

The choir did great Friday night and then the Narrow Way Quartet sang several songs.? They are a local quartet that have been singing for 20+ years and they really did a great job.?

Bro. Ralph then preached a message aimed at the young people.? It was about the choices we make and the consequences of those decisions.? I didn’t really get to hear most of the message because my little one was restless, so I too her outside of the tent so she wouldn’t be a distraction.? It’s hard for the little ones to sit still for 2+ hours.? I watched from outside of the tent, but it was hard to get involved.

The altars were filled again with young people.? This revival has seemed to reach many of the young people in our community.? It’s great to see so many of them getting into the meetings.? Pray that God will continue to move in our area.?

Cane River Revival .::. Thursday, 5/29/08

Thursday evening was crowded under the tent.? With Trinity bringing their choir over from Asheville, there was a larger crowd than usual.

The Campmeeting choir started the service, as usual.? The? stage was really crowded tonight with the addition of Trinity’s instruments and sound equipment, along with the Rochesters’ equipment on stage as well.

The Rochesters sang several songs after the choir was finished.? They are a talented group and the crowd ate them up.? Their musicianship is amazing.?

The Trinity Choir sang when they were finished.? They have a large choir, led by Music Minister Jay Boyce.? He does a fantastic job with the choir.?

After a few songs, Bro. Ralph spoke for a few moments about the history of the tent and how it is a dying breed.? He had my mother-in-law come up and testify again tonight and tell of how she was influenced by a man that went to pray on a hillside when she was a young girl.? God was all over her and she gave a stirring testimony.

The choir sang a couple of other songs, accompanied by video presentations.? The altars filled with people praying tonight while the choir was singing the last song.? God is still moving in people’s hearts.? I hope that our community has been helped during the meetings.? We still need revival.?

From Bro. Ralph’s comments tonight, it sounds as if the meetings might be extended.? It would be great if they could go another week, so I guess we’ll find out tonight what the plans will be.? Either way, it’s been a wonderful group of services.? God is good to us!!!

Cane River Revival .::. Wednesday, 5/28/08

Wednesday evening was cool and rain was coming down.? Since several area churches were having services, there was no choir tonight.? Instead, we sang a few congregational songs.? My pastor’s wife, Beverly Mitchell,? played the piano again tonight and the crowd sang well.? Tonight’s playing went much smoother for me, so whatever my problem was from the night before seems to have passed (for now!).? [On a side note, Get Well Soon, Beverly Ingle!? Hope you are starting to get over your sickness.]

A group of young students called the “Front Porch Pickers” from Bee Log Elementary did the special singing for the evening.? Mrs. Shelia Ramsey organized? this group where each student is learning to play an instrument, mostly guitar.? She received a grant to put this group together while she was the Principle at the school and she has done a tremendous job with the kids.? They performed 2 songs and they did great.?

Bro. Ralph continued the prophecy study from the previous evening and it was SO interesting.? He spoke of the 4 horsemen and how the attributes of each rider is prevalent in today’s world.? He spoke of the natural disasters in China & Mynamar (Burma) and how the deaths of so many unsaved people caused Hell to expand it’s borders.? This resulted in a volcano that? had been? dormant for 9,000+ years to suddenly erupt.? Coincidence??? I don’t think so.

“Dirty Thunderstorm” from Chile’s Chaitén Volcano eruption

The preacher then started talking about how our money has been devalued.? The best example of this is that it takes roughly 20 of our paper dollars to buy 1 silver dollar coin.? If you’ll study the third horseman in Rev. 6, you’ll see the relevance? of our currency devaluation attributed to the rider on the black horse with the balance in his hand.?

Hopefully, this study will continue tonight (Thursday).? The Rochesters are scheduled to be at the meeting along with the Trinity Baptist Choir from Asheville, NC.? It should be a special evening, so come on out to the big tent beside the Cane River.

Mp3ShopCart.com

Have any of you heard of this site: www.mp3shopcart.com?? I was looking to purchase a particular CD and this site was the only one that offered it with every track, so I bought it.? I wound up putting $19.95 out and the site works great.? ? I got the album I wanted, along with a couple of Gaither? projects, Austin’s Bridge new project, and several country projects.?

It’s a website that might? interest some of you…if you don’t mind buying music from a Russian website.

Cane River Revival .::. Tuesday, 5/27/08

Tuesday was a strange evening. Our regular piano player was out sick, so my pastor’s wife filled in again. She played great, but I couldn’t seem to get in sync with her tonight. It was only on a few notes, but if you know me at all, more than 1 or 2 missed notes for me is a bad night.

My family sang again tonight. We? did two songs and it really was a struggle to get through them both. There wasn’t much response from the crowd and we couldn’t hear much in the monitors, so it was a? hard to get the words out. I really hate those nights where you feel like you failed. I suppose God lets evenings like last night happen in your life to keep? you humble, but? it would be nice? if? those nights never happened. It’s been a long time since I felt like I did such a bad job singing…….it almost makes you want to quit.? I know we have to keep going, but it’s beyond me why sometimes you do really well and other times are horrible.? Part of being human, I guess.

Bro. Ralph did a lesson on prophecy tonight which was truly amazing. I could sit and listen to prophecy teachings all night long. My grandmother was a prophecy? scholar and she would always teach me about it. We would discuss at length the current events and how they tie into the prophecies of Matthew, Daniel & Revelation. We had a field day when the Left Behind series came out. We knew they were fiction so we would talk about the facts & fictions of the books. Last night made me miss her so much. She was around for the Cane River Revival in 2006 and she looked forward to the meetings for this year, but God called her home last year. I think I missed her more last night than any other time since she passed. So today, I’m just sad that my prophecy partner isn’t here anymore.

Tonight is supposed to be a continuation of the lesson started last night, so I’m very excited about going to the tent tonight.? Sadly, it appears that this will be the last week of the meetings.? There seems to be so much unconcern from the congregation that I get the feeling that most of them don’t want to be there at all.? The preacher spoke of spiritual warfare and I suppose this is a result.? It’s a little disappointing that it will most likely come to an end on Friday, but we have to go on.? I am thankful for the meetings we’ve had and it was time well spent to be under the tent every evening.? Hope to see some more of you there!
