As we spend this week commemorating and celebrating the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord, it’s a good time to come up with a couple of playlists appropriate for the season. Last week I mentioned that I struggled to come up with a great number of songs dealing with evangelism, but that problem certainly does not exist for this week’s subjects. Rightfully so, there is no shortage of songs dealing with the death of Christ, and his triumphant resurrection.
Following is an 80-minute playlist of my favorite songs dealing with the death of Jesus Christ. There are multitudes of songs about “the cross,” but these deal more directly with the event of the crucifixion, and what that event means for us. This is understandably not a playlist filled with uptempo songs and cheery lyrics. This is heavy material, that causes us to ponder the great sacrifice made by our Lord, but also rejoice in the salvation it brought us.
