I don’t know how many other people still do this, but I hardly ever listen to my music by popping a commercial CD into a CD player. I almost always burn my music onto blank CDs so I can fit more songs onto it. Typically I put a couple of full projects on one CD, e.g. my Gold City 1997-1998 CD, which might be my most played. I decided to make thematic CDs, full of songs that lyrically encapsulate some great doctrines and experiences of the Christian life. All of these playlists are real CDs that I made, to the 80-minute limit. They are all in a random order, or at least the first random order iTunes came up with that I liked. 🙂
For the first in our series of playlists, I might as well start at the beginning. For a Christian, the beginning of living isn’t really when you are born, but when you are born again. Have you had a day or period of time when it just seems like you couldn’t get that day off your mind? Have you just been at a church service where someone was saved? This is the playlist for you. Here are my favorite songs about salvation:
- He Made a Change, Cathedrals, Faithful
- Now I Am on My Way to Heaven, Kingdom Heirs, Gonna Keep Telling
- I Stand Redeemed, Legacy Five, Strong in the Strength
- Out of His Great Love, Martins, The Martins
- Saved by Grace, Triumphant Quartet, Love Came Calling
- Ever Since That Wonderful Day, Gold City, Renewed
- I Know That I Know, Mark Trammell Trio, Always Have a Song
- He Came to Me/Oh, What a Savior, Kingdom Heirs, Series 1
- All Washed Away, Inspirations, Things Are Different Now
- Somebody Touched Me, Cathedrals, The Prestigious Cathedral Quartet
- He Touched Me, Gaither Vocal Band, God Is Good
- The Greatest of All Miracles, Gold City, Double Take
- I Know It Was the Blood, Perrys, Look No Further
- What Salvation’s Done for Me, Booth Brothers, Room for More
- When the Lord Saved Me, Triumphant Quartet, Home Free
- Sinner Saved by Grace, Gaither Vocal Band, I Do Believe
- I’m Still Amazed, Perrys, Absolutely Positively Live
- Forever Changed, Kingdom Heirs, Forever Changed
- Saved, Gold City, Are You Ready?
- Paid in Full (Through Jesus Amen), Greater Vision, My Favorite Place
- He Locked the Gates, Kingdom Heirs, When You Look at Me
- Put That on My Account, Ruppes, Put That on My Account
What are some of your favorite salvation songs? Do any of those above speak to you in a special way? Let’s hear it!

Cool. I burn CDs for pre-service use at church usually to go along with the sermon topic. A good part of that time I am downstairs warming up with the choir etc. so there is need for background music so to speak. I have less than one week’s notice (usually getting the topic on Tuesday or Wednesday before that Sunday), so I depend mostly on what is cataloged in my brain. Now, I can also depend on what is cataloged by Brian. Imagine how easy that was in switching a couple of letters around. 😉 Seriously though, this and Daniel’s list going through the Bible will both be useful to me when I am in a hurry like that. They might either give songs I just hadn’t thought of in a hurry or maybe not aware of, but could download. Sometimes I have been pressed for time and only burned a custom pre-service CD between first and second service as I didn’t get it done in time for first. So there are times I am really scrambling to do so and at times have thought of songs after it was too late. Other times, I do the in between because after hearing the sermon the first time, some songs came to mind I hadn’t thought of, or the pastor’s direction in the sermon wasn’t quite what I expected.

Glad to be of service to you, q-man. That’s why we’re here blogging, hopefully to be a help in some way to somebody.
Oh Brian, we are so alike… I could spend all day rearranging the stuff in my iTunes library into playlists, getting the order just right…
I do this for favorite artists and give the CDs to my mom, ‘cuz she’s a “best-of” type as well. I take requests from her and then say “Here ya go… all you can eat!”
