At the time of this album’s release, with the Cathedrals just retired, Gold City was perhaps the strongest and most popular group on the road in southern gospel. With the quartet reaching more ears than anyone not named Gaither, and with the uncertainty surrounding the new millennium, this album hit a home run with the title track. Written by the late, great Doug Riley, it is one of the most powerful messages on the second coming I have heard. That power ballad is the cornerstone of the recording, but it is surrounded by the usual, strong, uptempo songs. Notable among those is “Get Up, Get Ready,” which is still a big crowd-pleaser over a decade later.
