NQC Album Review :: Wisecarvers – What A Day

The Wisecarvers
What A Day

I’ve finally found the time to start really listening to some CDs that were given to me to review at NQC.? The Wisecarvers are the first from my stack.? I picked them because I just found out that they are located about 20 minutes from me in Erwin, TN.? ? They live that close and yet I had never heard them sing until I received this CD.? ? After listening to the project, The Wisecarvers have been added to my “must-see-as-soon-as-possible” list.

You never know what you are going to be hearing when someone you’ve never heard of gives you a CD.? To be in Southern Gospel, The Wisecarvers have unique, blues-type vocals and it works well for them.? Although this is a CD of mostly classic songs, their sound gives these songs? a new feel.? While trying to think of someone to compare these guys to, the? first group that comes to my mind is The Crabb Family.? The lead vocalist reminds me of the Crabb boys.? The harmony on this album is also very tight.? I? was truly impressed by The Wisecarvers’ project and I am certainly looking forward to hearing more from them.? ?

Below are? my ratings for the songs on the album.? Honestly, there’s not a? bad song on the project.? ? A couple of tracks in the middle are weaker than the rest, but they are still good.

  1. What A Day ****
  2. Just Can’t Help It ****
  3. Tears Will Never Stain The Streets Of That City ****
