Album Review: The Best Of Jessica King – Work Of Heart

It’s hard to believe that it has been 10 years since Jessica King busted onto the Southern Gospel Charts with her hit song, “Keep Me In Your Will”.  This new project from Daywind Records includes that hit song, as well as her other hits including “Come Spring”, “You Don’t Have To Bear Your Burdens Alone” (a duet with Jason Crabb), “When He Reigns” & “Sometimes It Takes A Storm”.  Also included on this new CD are 3 brand new songs.  Jessica’s new single, “Work Of Heart”, is already climbing the charts grabbing the #54 spot in the Singing News Top 80 this month.

Being such a quartet man, I kinda shrugged when I opened this pre-release CD from Daywind.  I find myself in utter disbelief that I have really enjoyed this CD so much.  The tone of Jessica’s vocals are so smooth and clear that she is simply a treat to listen to.  After several plays, this CD just keeps getting better and better.  Every song on this project is simply solid.  Jessica King was one of the few female soloists that really grabbed my ear and it is a treat to hear her singing again after her hiatus from gospel music.  Although this is a ‘greatest hits’ project, Jessica has been out of the music scene for so long that she makes the songs sound new again.

The Best Of Jessica King is slated for release on 6/7/11 and will be available for purchase directly from www.daywindrecords.com or www.jessicakingmusic.com.
