My niece’s husband was tragically killed on his way home last night. He was a young preacher in his late 20’s with 2 very small children (ages 3 & 1). I’m just in shock over the news of this because he was a good friend to me and a joy to be around. I just don’t understand and it is so hard not to question God, but we must believe that in some way, His glory will be magnified through this tragedy….even though we can’t comprehend the reason why right now.
We never know when it may be your time or mine, so always be ready to meet Jesus!

The Edwards Family’s new website has launched today. www.edwardsfamilyministries.com is the web address.
This is the best looking site I’ve developed to date, so naturally, I’m very proud of the new site. Aside from the biography page (which hopefully will completed this evening), it is fully functional and complete. We’ve included an online store to listen to and purchase our new project, Because Of Him.
Stop in and check out our new site. I’d love to hear your feedback and comments about it.

SG Musings by Adam Edwards on
August 8th, 2008

I had never even heard of The Phillips Family of Gaffney, SC until the 2008 Cane River Revival. Since that time, I can’t stop listening to their music, especially their I Can’t Quit and The Cup projects. When I say I can’t get enough, I’m talking about listening to each project almost 50 times (according to iTunes) and I’m still drawn to their playlist in iTunes on a daily basis. It’s rare for me to find music that keeps my attention for a couple of spins, let alone 50 and counting.
The group consists of 3 brothers and 1 sister with most of their songs written by the middle brother, Stephen Phillips. I guess that is why I’m drawn to their music. It’s not the same old songs that are being sung by everyone else. They have a fresh sound and they switch parts enough to keep the music from becoming boring.
You can check out The Phillips Family online at their website, www.thephillipsfamilymusic.com. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by this group.
Man, I had a great time just being with my Dad yesterday. I can’t remember the last time that it was just the two of us doing something together.
Dad is just starting to get into golfing, but he is a natural athlete, so most sports come naturally to him. He beat me by 4 strokes on the front 9, but I gained the 4 strokes back on the back 9, so we wound up tying. I hadn’t had time to play golf in a couple of years, so it was great to get out on the links again. I hadn’t really missed it too bad until I played yesterday and realized just how much I enjoyed the game.
We finished the evening with dinner at Clarence’s, a local restaurant that has the best cheeseburgers around. Man, those were good burgers. We both had 1/2 pounders, all the way, with chili (I starving myself for another one as I type this). No chain restaurant that I’ve ever eaten at even comes close to making a burger as good as those we had yesterday.
Yesterday was the best day I’ve had in a long time. Thanks, Dad!!! We have to do it again really soon!
My wife and kids are out of town for a couple of days and I am taking full advantage of some alone time. Last night after work I took in 3 movies, Ironman, The Dark Night, and the new Mummy movie. The first 2 completely rocked, but the last one left me wishing that I had went on home and not wasted my money or sleep on it. I’m a fan of the Mummy series, but this one probably should have went straight to DVD just like The Scorpion King 2 is doing.
Today, I’m playing golf with my Dad and I’m so excited. We are going to play at Buffalo Valley Country Club just outside of Erwin, TN. I never get any alone time with him, so today is going to be a treat for me.
My family is coming back tomorrow and I’m ready for it. Apparently, they have no cell phone service where they are at so I haven’t heard from them since yesterday morning, aside from a message from Patricia where she tried to call collect to the house and got the answering machine. At least I know that they made it to the hotel. This weekend was Patricia’s parents 50th anniversary so she decided to take them back to where they went on their honeymoon 50 years ago and try to take pictures in the same spots as their old honeymoon photos. I thought that was a sweet idea for her to take them, so I don’t mind a couple of days home alone.
Guess it’s time to go get my hiney kicked at golf by my dad…….or maybe I’ll have a good day and squeak out a win.
