iTunes 8.0 (RE:Genius)

Many of you may have already updated your version of iTunes, but if you haven’t, you really need to check out the new Genius feature of iTunes 8.0. Basically you “Play a song, click the Genius button, and iTunes creates a playlist of other songs from your library that go great together. Genius playlists help you discover songs in your library you never knew you had — and rediscover forgotten favorites.” ~ Apple.com.

For example, I was playing Brian Free & Assurance’s “Long As I Got King Jesus” and clicked on the Genius icon.? Here is the playlist that was produced:

Long As I Got King Jesus (Live) Brian Free & Assurance
Don’t Let the Sandals Fool Ya Triumphant Quartet
He Forgot The Perrys
Paid In Full (Through Jesus, Amen) Greater Vision
In Time, On Time, Every Time Gold City
Hey Karen Peck & New River
Get Away Jordan Ernie Haase & Signature Sound
God’s Word Kingdom Heirs
Champion Of Love The Cathedrals
Give It Away Gaither Vocal Band
Walk On The Isaacs
Speak The Word, Lord New Hinsons
Why Not Make It Now Brian Free & Assurance
Hey Jonah Triumphant Quartet
Under His Wings The Ruppes
He Saw It All Booth Brothers
Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord Tony Gore
My Name Is Lazarus Greater Vision
There Is A Remedy The McRaes
Preach The Word Gold City
Jesus Will Pick You Up Brian Free & Assurance
He Will Hide Me The Perrys
I Can Pray Dove Brothers Quartet
Shoutin’ Time The Hoppers
A Little Song Coming On Three Bridges

This playlist was awesome!? Plus, if you get a really good playlist, you can save it to listen to later.

Granted, most SG songs have no information about them, so the Genius feature won’t work, but for the groups that will work, iTunes cranks out some pretty cool playlists.? As more people use the new feature, the playlists should only get better, so all of you SG fans need to start using this so Apple will have more info about our music.
