Triumphant Quartet
Intermission
To be honest, there’s no need to go into great detail on this CD. This is the first 5 star CD of the year for me. Every song is a winner and the Triumphant Quartet simply cranks out top-quality music and seems to get better with every project.
Songs on Intermission are:
- It’s A Wonderful Day
- Way Up In Gloryland
- When I Receive My Robe And Crown
- For God So Loved
- Turn Your Back
- Intermission
- Gonna Build A Mountain
- That Still Small Voice
- Pearly Gates
- I Remember The Day
- The Cloud He’s Coming Back On
- Welcome To Heaven
Since this is a table project, you’re probably only going to be able to purchase it directly from Triumphant, either in concert or online at www.TriumphantQuartet.com. Plus, you may want to purchase ASAP since sometimes table projects tend to be short run items between major label releases.
FINAL RATING: 5 stars out of 5 stars

MIKE UPRIGHT
Songs For The Common Man
This latest effort from Mike Upright is my favorite release so far for 2008. Mike has been singing for several years now as the former Lead singer for Common Ground & Standing Tall, and most recently as a solo artist. After going solo around 6 years ago, he continues to have one of the smoothest, country gospel voices in gospel music today.
Mike’s new project, Songs For The Common Man, was released about a month ago and his first single, “Please Tell Me Again“, has been released to Southern Gospel radio.
Song list for this project is:
- Please Tell Me Again (****)
- When I Lay My Isaac Down (*****)
- The Hero’s On The Hill (***)
- The Common Man (***)
- To Get To Me (*****)
- Great Physicians Hand (****)
- He Is I Am (****)
- Love Letters In The Sand (****)
- Folly Of A Fool (****)
- God Is In The Room (****)
My rating for this CD is 4 stars out of a possible 5.

We will be in the studio to start recording this coming Friday and Saturday. Should be fun! Pray for us that we’ll be in good voice!

Here’s something I found rather amusing this morning. Some of you may already be familiar with this, but I wasn’t and it was a good laugh for me.
Read each bio carefully:
THE “JIM” QUARTET
I guess the reason I found this so amusing is that my nickname for almost everyone is “Bob”.

Personally, I think this is one of the smartest moves for the fan awards that the Singing News could have made. Putting a voting system in place that no longer requires tearing out (and usually messing up) one of those thick paper ballots, finding a pen, finding an envelope and having to go buy a stamp is awesome. I hated filling out those paper ballots. To be honest, sometimes I didn’t bother with them at all, especially when I first started subscribing many years ago. But that’s not a problem anymore. I’m glad to see that the Singing News is really listening to it’s subscribers. Oh yeah, you do have to actually be a subscriber to vote. Subscribe today.
FWIW, here’s my ballot:

I’ve uploaded the telecast from Trinity Baptist that I mentioned in this post to YouTube in 3 parts. Click HERE or use the link “Adam’s YouTube Videos” on the right under my blogroll to access them.
….is more work and more fun than I remember. Lining up a producer, musicians, photographer and a production company is not as simple as I thought it would be. Let alone getting the “right songs” selected for the project and then rehearsing them. Even though this process is a ton of work, I am having a blast!
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind for my family, but God has been blessing us more than we ever imagined. We were televised regionally on Trinity Baptist’s (Pastor Ralph Sexton, Jr.) weekly telecast at 9 AM on ABC-WLOS this past Sunday (which was cool!). I would have told you guys about this, but I didn’t know when (or if) it would be televised.
I’ll try to post more as we continue the recording process. We are scheduled to be with our photographer on Saturday and then (hopefully) get in the studio next week to start the recording process. It’s been over 10 years since I’ve been in a studio, so it’s going to be like going in for the first time.
I lined up the CD replication today, so that has been taken care of (which was much easier and less expensive than I thought it would be). I can’t wait to start on the artwork for this. I’ve got some cool ideas in mind, but I’ll wait to see how our photo shoot goes and then how these ideas are translated in Photoshop before I elaborate more.
Keep us in your prayers in the coming weeks as we start on a new leg of our ministry!!!
